NYT: Israel says it hit underground bunker at Khamenei compound

The Israeli Armed Forces have bombed and destroyed a large underground bunker in Tehran that was built for the former Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as reported by the prestigious American media 'New York Times'.

About 50 Israeli warplanes bombed the bunker, which was located under a compound linked to the Iranian government and was planned as an emergency command center.

According to the Israeli statement, the bunker was used by senior Iranian government officials even after Khamenei was killed in an attack a few days earlier.

The bombing comes on the seventh day of a broad military campaign by the US and Israel against Iran, as the conflict has spread its influence to other parts of the Middle East and caused global concerns about the region's stability and energy supplies.
