Osman's mandate ends/ He is expected to hand over the task to the Speaker

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, ends her mandate this Saturday. In the absence of an election of a new president, Osmani hands over the task to the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu.

The handover ceremony will be held at the President's Office at 4:00 PM.

"At 16:00, the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, will hand over her duties to the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu. The ceremonial act of handing over and accepting duties will be held in the President's Cabinet ," the Presidency's announcement states.

Recent developments in Kosovo regarding the presidential issue have been characterized by a deep political stalemate. The Assembly, in the session scheduled for the president, failed to elect him due to a lack of quorum, and the session was adjourned.

The situation escalated further after President Vjosa Osmani dissolved the Parliament and announced extraordinary elections, a decision that was contested and sent to the Constitutional Court.

The Constitutional Court's decision stated that Osman's decree to dissolve the legislature has no legal effect, and gave the Assembly 34 days to elect the president. /CNA
