The UN raises the alarm/ Our shelters in Gaza are overcrowded, health at risk

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) has raised an alarm regarding the fighting in Gaza.

The UN aid agency says some 629,000 refugees are now sheltering in 150 UN sites across the Gaza Strip, causing shelters to overcrowd and reach triple capacity.

She states that overcrowding endangers the health of refugees, who have left their homes due to the Israel-Hamas war.

"Current overcrowding conditions remain concerning and represent a health and safety risk," the agency said.

The UN also reports that three schools in Gaza were damaged by airstrikes. One person lost his life and 15 others were injured.

Another UNRQA staff member was also killed, bringing the number of their staff casualties to 39 since the beginning of the conflict./ CNA
