From now on, the citizens of this country will travel for free by bus

This Sunday, September 24, a pilot project will begin in New York where public bus transportation will be free on five lines, one in each borough.

The pilot program will serve approximately 43,900 public transit users in New York.

The extension of this pilot project will be for a period of six to 12 months, according to Governor Kathy Hochul.

"The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is the lifeblood of New York City, and I'm proud of the tremendous progress we've made in returning ridership to pre-pandemic levels," Hochul said. 

"By establishing these pilot fare-free bus routes, we are expanding access to public transportation across the city and improving transit equity to better serve all New Yorkers." said Kathy Hochul./ CNA
