After 118 years of snow falling in September in Sweden, the authorities are

In northern Sweden, it seems that the winter season has already begun in earnest and the meteorological service has issued a snowfall warning, local media reports. 

A lot of snow has fallen in some cities, while in Kiruna in Lapland, the thickness of the snow has gone up to 40 centimeters, which is the largest amount in this part of the year in the last 118 years. 

Traffic in areas covered by snow is temporarily suspended.

The Swedish September record for snowfall is 62 centimeters at Sosjö in Jämtland, and that much snow fell on 28 September 1954.

In southern parts of Sweden, however, the snow is far away, so temperatures of up to 25 degrees are expected in Skåne by the end of this week.
