The US Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, has commented on the statements of Prime Minister Albin Kurti to the US Envoy for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak.

Escobar has stated that a more pragmatic approach is needed from the Kosovo government, stressing that Lajçak enjoys the full confidence of the US and the EU.

He added that he was recently alarmed by personal attacks on Lajç, saying that he asked President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti to condemn these attacks.

In his interview with the Voice of America, he clearly underlined that personal attacks against the special representative are unacceptable.

"Lajçak enjoys the full confidence of the European Union and the United States. All EU countries made a joint statement after the failure of the talks, with support for Lajcak. It's something they have to face. Lajçak will not leave. The dialogue will not go away. And I don't think a country of a million and a half will convince the transatlantic community of 700 million to change its tactics. I think that there should be a more pragmatic approach from the government of Kosovo. I have to say something else. During the last week, I have been alarmed by the personal attacks against Lajçak that exist in the social sphere of Kosovo. I asked President Osmani and Prime Minister Kurti to condemn these attacks.
