The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has announced early elections.

Macron has dissolved the French Parliament after the victory of the far-right party in the elections for the European Parliament.

Polls in France show that Marine Le Pen's party, the National March, has come out on top in the election, winning over 30% of the vote.

Meanwhile, the list of Macron's party, Rilindja, came second with 15.2% of the vote.

Marine Le Pen's party has never scored such a high result before.

This loss shown by the polls has pushed Macron towards the decision for early elections.

An immediate reaction came from Marine Le Pen, who welcomed President Macron's decision.

"This historic vote shows that when the people vote, the people win. We are ready to take power if the French give us their trust in the next national elections. We are ready to exercise power, end mass migration, we prioritize purchasing power, ready to make France live again," she said during a speech to supporters in Paris./ CNA
