The new European Commission is voted on November 27
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen

The European Parliament has placed on the agenda for the November 27 plenary session the vote on the confirmation of the new composition of the European Commission.

In this session, Ursula von der Leyen, who will be in charge of the executive arm of the European Union for a new five-year term, will present the new composition of the EC to the European deputies.

The EP set November 27 as the date for voting on the new composition of the EC after an agreement was reached between the main political groups for the confirmation of all the proposed commissioners.

The proposed commissioners have gone through hearings in the relevant EP committees and now each of them has received the support to exercise the commissioner's duty in the field that has been assigned.

Disagreements have been overcome between the three pro-European groups, the European People's Party (EPP), which is the largest group, the Socialists and Democrats (S&D), which is the second largest group, and the Liberal group, which has declined and is the fifth group. in terms of the total number of deputies in the EP.

Together, these three groups have a sufficient majority to vote for the new European Commission in the plenary session. It is also expected that two other groups, which are considered to be of the extreme right, will vote in favor of the European Commission, as it will also include candidates from these groups, such as Oliver Varhelyi from Hungary and Raffaelo Fitto from Italy. .

The ruling party in Hungary is part of the "Patriots for Europe" group, while the Party of the Prime Minister of Italy, Georgia Meloni, is part of the "Conservatives and Reformists" group.

The sources of Radio Free Europe in the EP, but also in the EC, have expressed certainty that on November 27, the new composition of the EC will be voted on with the necessary majority. This will enable the new Commission to officially start its mandate on 1 December.

The next Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, from Slovenia, and the High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security, Kaja Kallas, will mostly deal with the Western Balkans region in the next five years.

Both of them, during the hearings, have promised that they will commit to making the EU enlargement a reality in the next five years./ REL
