Four killed as Russia launches new wave of attacks in Ukraine

Four people were killed in the Ukrainian industrial region of Dnipropetrovsk after a wave of air strikes by Russia, the second deadly attack in the area in a week, as Moscow tries to seize territory and the peace process remains deadlocked.

The regional governor, Sergiy Lysak, said that 17 more people were injured on June 27, just three days after another attack in the same region that left 21 people dead and 340 others injured.

"The death toll in Samar City has reached four. 17 people were injured. Most have been hospitalized. Two men and a woman are in serious condition. The others are in stable condition," he said.

Several fires in buildings in Lisak have broken out following the attacks.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces said 363 drones and eight missiles were launched at Ukraine overnight, with the main town hit being Starokostiantynivy, in the Khmelnytskyi region.

Several months after repelling Ukraine's surprise offensive in the Russian Kursk region, Russian forces have repeatedly attacked villages and military positions in the area.

Russian missile strikes on June 24 damaged dozens of educational and medical facilities in the region. A passenger train departing from the regional center, Dnipro, was also targeted.

Since the war began in 2022, Russia has consistently denied targeting civilian infrastructure, despite abundant evidence to the contrary./ REL
