Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "there is a date" that Israeli troops will enter Rafah and reiterated in a videotaped statement that there is no victory without an operation in the southern city.
He did not say when the operation would take place, but emphasized that he had received a detailed briefing on the talks in Cairo.
"We are constantly working to achieve our goals," Netanyahu said, "primarily releasing all our hostages and achieving a complete victory over Hamas."
Rafah, home to nearly 1.5 million Palestinians displaced from other areas of the Gaza Strip, is bracing for a threatened ground offensive by the Israeli military, hours after fresh indirect negotiations in Cairo to announce a ceasefire, six months after the outbreak of war./ CNA
