As the world awaits the impact of the US election on the conflict in the Middle East, Israeli attacks left dozens dead in northern Gaza and Lebanon over the weekend. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he had three phone conversations with US President-elect Donald Trump since Tuesday, while Israeli President Isaac Herzog is expected to meet with President Biden in Washington on Tuesday. According to VOA correspondent Arash Arabasadi, Qatar suspended its role as the main mediator between Hamas and Israel due to what it called frivolous negotiations between the parties.

Moments later, after a helicopter flies over the al-Aqsa hospital in the central part of the Gaza Strip, an explosion occurs in its courtyard.

Israel is continuing its campaign of attacks against Hamas targets in the region.

Local authorities say at least three people were killed in the attack.

In the town of Khan Younis, Palestinian health officials said at least 13 people were killed by Israeli strikes on Saturday. In the northern part of Gaza, an Israeli attack on a house where displaced persons from other parts of Gaza were sheltering, caused the death of at least 17 people, among them nine women.

The ongoing violence prompted Qatari officials, who have been acting as mediators between Israel and Hamas, to suspend their efforts to broker a ceasefire agreement.

In a statement shared on social media, Qatar's Foreign Ministry said efforts to broker such an agreement would resume when Israel and Hamas show "their readiness and seriousness to end the war."

Meanwhile in Tel Aviv, thousands of protesters called on the Israeli government to reach a ceasefire with Hamas in exchange for hostages being held by the militant group since the October 7 attack last year that sparked the war.

"We listened to the voice of the people. I am here because the situation is dire. It's been 400 days and the hostages are still in Gaza. A war without direction is going on. It is a very sad situation, a great tragedy and the government should listen to the people. This is our way to protest ", declared the protester Eial Tiskim.

In addition to attacks in Gaza, Israel is carrying out attacks against Lebanon in the north, where it says it is targeting members of the militant group Hezbollah, supported by Iran and declared a terrorist organization by Western governments.

With scenes similar to those in Gaza, parts of Lebanon are now reduced to ashes. Rescue teams trying to dig under the rubble with their hands.

Lebanese officials say the attacks killed dozens of victims. Some of them need to be DNA tested to identify them. Twenty-three people, including seven children, were killed by an Israeli airstrike in the village of Aalmat north of Beirut, far from areas where Hezbollah has an increased presence.

The protests and strikes are taking place in the context of the outbreak of violence in Amsterdam.
Dutch officials say a mob of youths attacked Israeli fans after a soccer match.

Authorities said social media posts called for attacks on Jews and that they banned demonstrations over the weekend. According to reports, Israeli fans tore a Palestinian flag from a building and chanted anti-Arab slogans on the way to the stadium./ VOA
