Netanyahu talks with Trump / Main topic, the "threat" from Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken with US President-elect Donald Trump three times in recent days about deepening cooperation between the two countries and the "Iranian threat" to Israel's security, Netanyahu's office said. on sunday.

"In the last few days, I have spoken three times with President-elect Donald Trump... about deepening the strong alliance between Israel and the US," Netanyahu said, according to his office.

"We agree on the Iranian threat in every aspect," he added, according to the release.

Washington is Israel's main ally and biggest military backer.

The US election was held at a critical time for the Middle East, where Israel is waging war in Gaza and Lebanon.

Analysts believe that Netanyahu had hoped for Trump's return to the White House, knowing the close personal friendship between them, as well as seeing the former president's stance against Israel's sworn enemy, Iran.

During his first term, Trump moved the American Embassy to Jerusalem, recognized Israel's sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights, and helped Israel normalize relations with several Arab states based on the so-called Abraham Accords./ REL
