Israel and Lebanon agree to 10-day ceasefire

The leaders of Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a 10-day ceasefire after officials from both countries met in Washington. The decision was announced by US President Donald Trump.

"The two leaders reached a ceasefire agreement 'with the aim of achieving PEACE between their countries,'" Trump wrote in a post on 'Social Truth.'

The temporary ceasefire will begin at 5 p.m. local time. 

The US president wrote that he had just finished excellent talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Joseph Aoun of Lebanon.

Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine will work with Israel and Lebanon to achieve a SUSTAINABLE PEACE. /CNA
