US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said today that US forces in the Middle East have taken positions to resume combat operations if Iran does not agree to a peace deal.
Hegseth shared the warning during a press conference at the Pentagon.
"You, Iran, can choose a prosperous future, a way out, and we hope you will do that for the people of Iran. But if Iran makes the wrong choice, then it will experience a blockade and bombs falling on its electricity and energy infrastructure and facilities," the US minister stressed, Hegseth said.
The senior US official stressed that Washington will maintain the blockade of Iranian ports, which took effect on Monday, for as long as necessary./CNA
