Iran arrests 500 accused of providing information to enemies

Iran has arrested 500 people accused of providing information to enemies.

The Islamic Republic's police chief said half of the cases involved serious incidents, including people who provided information about hitting targets and individuals who took pictures of the attack sites and sent them.

Earlier, Iranian media reported dozens of arrests in several regions.

In northwestern Iran, the semi-official Tasnim news agency said 20 people were arrested on charges by the provincial prosecutor's office for sending details of the location of Iran's military and security assets to Israel.

In northeastern Iran, which has remained relatively untouched by airstrikes, Tasnim reported the arrest of 10 people, some of whom were accused of collecting information on sensitive sites and economic infrastructure.

"While the Zionist enemy (Israel) and the US are trying to invade Iran, they are simultaneously activating mercenaries and spies to carry out unrest as the next step," a provincial branch of the Revolutionary Guards' intelligence organization said, according to Tasnim./ CNA
