Italian military base in Kuwait hit by drone

An Italian military base in Kuwait, used jointly with the United States, has been hit by a drone, the Italian military said. International media reported that there were no casualties in the incident.

Since the United States and Israel began bombing Iran, following Tehran's retaliation against Persian Gulf countries and American bases in the area, some of which they shared with European and NATO bases, such as in Kuwait, the Italian facility has been targeted several times with both missiles and drones.

There were no injuries in any case, partly because the mission personnel, who serve in the Italian Air Force, with reconnaissance aircraft and drones, took shelter in bunkers. In recent days, the Ministry of Defense itself has ordered a gradual reduction of the force present in the area towards Saudi Arabia, while requiring some personnel to remain on base. /CNA
