How is Mojtaba Khamenei's condition? / Iran's Foreign Minister speaks

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Arghchi says he has no problem with the country's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, after US officials said he had been injured.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said on Friday he believed Khamenei, who took power after his father, Ali Khamenei, was killed in an attack at the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran, was left "wounded and disfigured".

Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Iran's new supreme leader is capable of governing and carrying out duties as the country's leader.

"There is no problem with the new supreme leader. He sent his message yesterday and will carry out his duties ," he said.

Iranian officials had confirmed that Khamenei had been wounded but did not provide further details. The 56-year-old has not appeared in public since the airstrike that killed his father and several family members.

In a written statement on Thursday, Khamenei said his wife, sister, her child and brother-in-law were also killed and vowed revenge against the US and Israel. He also warned that Iran could disrupt regional oil supplies and activate allied forces across the region. /CNA
