Netanyahu responds to Iranian conspiracy theories/Posts video of himself

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu posted a video of himself drinking a cup of coffee and chatting with his aide, after rumors that he was dead or injured were broadcast by Iranian state media and spread online in Iran.

In the video, shot in a cafe on the outskirts of Jerusalem and posted on Netanyahu's social media account, his aide questions him about Iranian conspiracy theories.

"I'm crazy about coffee. You know what? I'm crazy about my people," Netanyahu tells his aide, while also showing his fingers, after a video released a few days ago suggested that the video was generated with AI and allegedly showed him with six fingers.

He followed up his actions by calling on the Israeli public to stay near shelters even when they go outside, and that the public's strength gives strength to him, the government, the IDF, and the Mossad.

"We are doing things that I cannot share with you at the moment," he said, adding that the IDF has and will continue to hit Iran and Lebanon very hard.

"Continue to listen at all times to the instructions of the Home Front Command, the mayors, and always stay close to the shelters," Netanyahu concluded, adding that the restrictions will be eased when the situation allows.

Since the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28, Netanyahu has visited at least two cities hit by Iranian missiles, a hospital, a port and military bases, but had little or no access to the media and the videos were distributed from his office.

Netanyahu, who rarely gives interviews to the Israeli press or holds press conferences, called his first press conference since the start of the war via video link on Thursday, a format similar to the one he used in June during Israel's 12-day war with Iran.

Emergency security restrictions in Israel since the start of the war prohibit public gatherings and have kept most people at home or near shelters and safe rooms, with schools closed in most of the country. /CNA
