Spectacular robbery/ Louvre President: Measures have been taken for security

The Louvre is taking action to address security concerns that emerged after the spectacular €88 million heist last month. A day after a highly critical report from the Court of Auditors, the museum's president and director said it had taken every measure to address security concerns.

"I have taken every measure for our security problems ," said Laurence des Cars, explaining that the Louvre's security plan, or "master plan" of security equipment, will be implemented from today.

The measures will include a series of security improvement works, especially regarding surveillance by security cameras, which is one of the museum's weak points, an element that Cars had also highlighted during the hearing in the Senate Culture Committee at the end of October.

Laurence des Cars, who has been in this position since September 2021, called an extraordinary meeting of the board of directors today to review the management of the museum with the most visitors in the world.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, the Court of Auditors expressed criticism of the museum. The court's report states that the administration prioritized prestige works over security. /CNA
