This Wednesday, closing statements are continuing at the Hague Tribunal in the trial of former KLA leaders.

In his speech, former Kosovo President Jakup Krasniqi emphasized the countless suffering and sacrifices that the people went through over the decades, with persecution, violence, and murder.

Krasniqi emphasized that he did everything he felt out of love for the country and the freedom of the homeland, for which he worked for five years, calling it absurd that this was also the reason that put him in handcuffs about 6 years ago.

"Long captivity, persecution, rape, numerous exiles, incessant executions and murders marked the entire 20th century. These cruel acts were not broken, on the contrary, they were not broken on the back of the tyranny we experienced. The love of life and freedom made me take on this role. A person does not choose resistance easily, but the act when every day the right to dignity is closed. I was denied and forbidden the most human right to every person born free and every reasonable person who knows himself, human dignity and the equality of all, the right to openly love my country, to work for it and to pass on what I have learned through decades of life and sacrifice. For these virtues I was shackled on November 4, 2020", said Krasniqi. /CNA
