Donald Trump joins Elon Musk at SpaceX's Starship launch

US President-elect Donald Trump joined Elon Musk in Brownsville, Texas to watch the sixth test launch of SpaceX's Starship spacecraft, which aims to send humans to Mars.

Also joining are Senators Bill Hagerty and Ted Cruz, as well as Donald Trump Jr. and Congressman Ronny Jackson.

SpaceX was retrying an operation where the rocket booster gets caught in a landing pad on its return to Earth, which was first achieved during Starship's fifth test flight. But due to a problem, SpaceX aborted the plan and the booster crashed into the Gulf of Mexico after only a few minutes in the air.

Earlier this month, Trump tapped Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy to lead a new "Department of Government Efficiency" (Doge).

Donald Trump said the pair would act in an advisory capacity and that the Doge would not be an official government department.
