"A laptop and a printer are enough", fiscal cash registers in Kosovo

The project for the digitization of the fiscal system in Kosovo has been presented. This project aims to convert the fiscal cash registers in hardware format, which are currently used by businesses in Kosovo, into digital or software cash registers.

The Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati, has announced the transformation of the fiscal cash register system in Kosovo, transferring them to digital systems.

Murat has announced the introduction of the new fiscal system, which aims to bring efficiency and cost reduction for businesses.

"For how long we have been working to change the system of fiscal cash registers, from hardware ones as it is currently, to software or digital fiscal cash registers. Today we also presented the new system, demonstrating live how it works. The new system we have built enables communication with software providers through API, which means opening the market, thus more competition and therefore much cheaper operating costs. So, a laptop/computer and a thermal printer are enough for a business to be able to issue fiscal coupons, without the need to buy expensive fiscal cash registers."

Murtai said that the new system also enables communication with an application that scans the QR code of each fiscal coupon.

"The new system also enables communication with an application that scans the QR code of each fiscal coupon, opening the way for various incentive schemes that reward citizens who receive the fiscal coupon. We will keep you posted on any further developments in this area. Stay tuned! Digital government".

Meanwhile, the director of the Tax Administration of Kosovo, Ilir Murtezaj, said that in the wake of the progress of this institution regarding the collection of taxes, a new development is unfolding today, i.e. the digitization of fiscalization, or in other words the software approach of fiscal cash registers.

"Currently we have a hardware approach, that is, with fiscal cash register printers, while now it is a new approach, which gives new opportunities for fiscalization and increasing the formalization of the economy in the country."

This process of fiscalization has started since 2010 and since that time, as Murtezaj says, over 33 thousand businesses have been fiscalized.

"If we look at the percentage of active businesses that are, it is 30% of fiscalized businesses, but if we look at the percentage of the participation of these businesses in the total turnover, then it turns out that 80% of the turnover is done in Kosovo as a whole are from fiscalized businesses".

However, Murtezaj emphasizes that through this platform the opportunity is given that even businesses that are not fiscalized can now be fiscalized at a much lower or zero cost, and at the same time the justification for accepting the fiscalization process by businesses is removed. , as has usually happened until now./ Monitor magazine
