Iran calls the EU and British sanctions "unreasonable".

Iran considers that the European Union (EU) and Great Britain imposed sanctions on its shipping line based on "false claims" about supplying Russia with missiles and that the sanctions are "unreasonable", the spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry said. , Esmaeil Baghaei.

Brussels on Monday added the Islamic Republic of Iran Transport Line (IRISL) and its director to its sanctions list, due to Tehran's support for Russia in its war against Ukraine.

On the same day, Britain imposed sanctions on Iran's national airline and its shipping carrier, saying it did so in response to Iran's supply of missiles to Russia.

"Iran appreciates that the new sanctions by the European Union and the United Kingdom against a number of Iranian individuals and legal entities were imposed based on the false claims of sending missiles to Russia and calls them an unreasonable action that contradicts the norms of international law." , Baghaei said.

He added that European countries are violating international law, including freedom of movement and maritime trade, by imposing sanctions.
