At least 11 killed and 89 injured by Russian attack in Ukraine

A Russian missile strike hit a residential building in the northeastern Ukrainian city of Sumy, killing 11 people, including two children, Ukrainian officials said Monday.

Eighty-nine people, including 11 children, were injured in the attack late Sunday night, Ukraine's state emergency service reported.

The attack in Sumi followed repeated Russian bombings against Ukraine's power grid on Sunday morning.

Kiev said Russia used 120 missiles and 90 drones during those attacks, which killed seven people.

"Sunday evening became hell for the city of Sumy, a tragedy that Russia brought to our land," said Volodymyr Artyukh, head of Sumy's military administration.

Sumatra's military administration said another rocket attack hit the power grid, leaving the city without power.

The Ukrainian Air Force said Russian forces used Iskander-M missiles and a Kh-59 remote-controlled missile during the nighttime attack.

More than 400 people were evacuated from the city, according to emergency services.

Pictures posted on Telegram by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine showed firefighters battling the blaze and rescuers carrying people out of the building.

The regional prosecutor's office of Sumy said that 90 apartments, 28 cars, two educational institutions and 13 buildings were damaged by this attack. /REL
