Borrell reveals the date/ When the Kurti-Vucic meeting will be held

The next meeting between the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, and the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vu?i?, will take place on September 14, announced at a press conference in Spain, the High Representative of the EU for Foreign Policy and Security, Josep Borrell.

Kurti and Vucic met for the last time on May 2 - nine days after extraordinary elections in northern Kosovo, which were boycotted by the local Serbian population. Since then, there have been a series of tensions and crises between the two countries.

On August 30, the EU reiterated the call for both to create a climate for continued dialogue.

The two countries, under the mediation of the European Union, have been in talks for the normalization of relations since 2011. Although they have reached dozens of agreements in various fields, the implementation of most of them has stalled.

During his conference, Borrell announced that together with the Spanish presidency of the EU, he will hold a joint conference at the level of foreign ministers of the Western Balkans to analyze the situation in the region. He added that this will be done alongside other meetings that will take place, such as the Berlin Process summit.

"The issue of expansion has been in our discussions. We discussed Ukraine and the expansion towards the Western Balkans. It will remain a process implemented on individual merits" , he said, adding that the EU also needs to prepare for expansion.

The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, has proposed this week that the year 2030 be set as the deadline by which both the European Union and the candidate countries should be ready for expansion.
