Some of Europe's favorite wines could disappear from climate change, experts have warned.

Climate change could wipe out Prosecco and other popular European wines, a new study has warned.

Prosecco - a sparkling white wine produced in the mountain vineyards of Italy is one of the continent's most beloved drinks.

But grape yields are dwindling, devastated by a deadly combination of extreme weather and soil degradation.

Why is Prosecco under threat?

Extreme weather is making life difficult for Prosecco producers.

Sudden and intense rainfall events have caused sudden soil erosion.

Drought is another issue, making it extremely difficult to irrigate crops.

This year, Prosecco producers were inundated by massive spring rainfall and hail, followed by an unseasonably hot summer.

Unstable weather - caused by climate change could reduce the Italian wine grape harvest by up to a fifth, producers estimate./ CNA
