US-Iran talks/ Americans positive, Tehran asks for two weeks

American officials have expressed positive sentiment after talks with the Iranians held this Tuesday in Geneva.

According to them, the US will be waiting to receive detailed proposals from the Iranian government to address the gaps in the two countries' positions, within a two-week deadline requested by Tehran.

"Progress was made, but there are still many details to be discussed. The Iranians said they would come back in the next two weeks with detailed proposals to address some of the gaps left in our positions," a US official said.

The result seemed positive, but comes as the US military continues to build up its position in the Middle East. President Donald Trump has warned Iran of a "very traumatic" outcome if they do not agree to a deal in the coming weeks.

The Iranians have hinted through intermediaries ahead of the talks that they could transfer some of their uranium reserves to Russia and that they would be open to economic deals with the U.S. as part of a new nuclear deal, but it is not clear whether these specific issues were raised in Tuesday's talks, the sources said.

The Iranians have also signaled that they would be open to halting enrichment for a period of time, but have said that a permanent enrichment ban is unacceptable, the sources said.
