3-day visit to India/ Macron meets PM Modi, talks on fighter jets

French President Emmanuel Macron met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai on Tuesday as he begins a three-day visit to India focused on cooperation on artificial intelligence and a possible multibillion-dollar fighter jet deal.

France is looking to expand its military partnership with New Delhi and Macron's talks with Prime Minister Modi are likely to focus on cooperation in artificial intelligence and a possible deal for billion-dollar Dassault Rafale fighter jets.

The two leaders will also exchange views on regional and global issues and review progress in the India-France strategic partnership.

Modi traveled to Mumbai for the meeting with Macron, who landed in India's financial capital with his wife, Brigitte, on his fourth visit to India since taking office in 2017. /CNA
