Ukraine talks in Berlin/ Witkoff: Progress has been made

US President Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, said significant progress has been made in talks in Berlin today between senior US and Ukrainian officials on the latest efforts to end the war with Russia.

The meeting between the American and Ukrainian delegations was attended by Witkoff, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law.

"The representatives held in-depth discussions. Much progress was made and they will meet again tomorrow morning ," Witkoff said in a post on X.

After five hours of discussions with Donald Trump's chosen ones, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the Ukrainian president is looking forward to tomorrow's meeting with Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Macron and Starmer, as well as leaders from other European and NATO countries, in order to draw a firm conclusion about what will happen.

Tomorrow, Zelensky, together with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, will participate in a German-Ukrainian economic conference. Chancellor Merz has also invited 12 European heads of state and government, as well as the leaders of the EU and NATO. At the meeting, the Europeans aim to reaffirm their solidarity with Ukraine, despite the ongoing US-Russia contacts. /CNA
