For Adi Dule and up to the monument of Zai Fundo
Bust of Llazar Fundo, made by sculptor Adi Dule

A bust of Llazar Fundo was placed in Korça, on a pedestal that is more than a monument, a work of art, considered as such by all those people who have been able to see it so far, we are talking about artists, sculptors, painters, intellectuals, professors, and behind this work stand the golden hands of Adi Dula.

For Adi Dule and up to the monument of Zai Fundo
Bust of Llazar Fundo in Korça

It was not chosen by chance to make that monument. It all has a meaning and a path.

It begins with the arrival of Dula in Korça, at the house of Llazar Fundo, and the next day in a meeting with the then Metropolitan of Korça, today His Beatitude Joanin, to receive blessings, to begin a path, a work until the installation of the monument to Llazar Fundo.

Everything seen there is from the hands of Adi Dula, who definitely had a great spiritual and inspirational force, not only when he became acquainted with Zai's work, but also when he joined them to go to Ventotene, where Fundo had been interned, and became one of the drafters of the Ventotene Manifesto.

Then in debates with intellectuals of the time like Altiero Spinelli or as one of the friends of Sandro Pertini, who later became president of Italy.

Adi Dule saw Zai Fundon from the blackening of his history by dictator Enver Hoxha to the values ??given to this left-wing intellectual and philosopher, a former communist at all times.

From the first punishments by King Zog, from the trials in Germany, from the flight to Moscow, through the catacombs to Mongolia and then to Europe, because he was spied on by his Comintern comrades and neither Zog, nor the Germans, nor the Russians could kill him.

But the Italians arrested him in Korça, as Enver Hoxha says, because on April 7, '39 he went out in front of the municipality to ask for weapons to fight fascism. Zai Fundo was an anti-fascist. His bust is placed exactly where he spoke, on April 7, '39.

The Italians also exiled him for four years. Then he came to Albania, entered Kosovo with the 'Black Chiefs' and an English missionary, and was shot without trial by Enver Hoxha.

Professor Aurel Plasari is the clearest in his stance on Zai Fundo, who says it is enough to look at the questions: 'Why in Kosovo, where have you been?'

He considers the murder of Zai Fundo as a personal revenge of the bloody dictator. There is no trial, there is no guilt of Zai Fundo, there is no crime. The only one is in Moscow where he criticized the Stalin regime.

Adi Dule read this "Zai Fundo", lived it, entered it and brought back a sculpture that is truly a work of art, it is rare.

But there is also something that has not been said before.

Once upon a time, in the 1986s, a monument to dictator Enver Hoxha, the man who had shot Llazar Fundo, was to be erected in Korça.

A work by the hands of the great master Hektor Dule, one of the rare sculptors beyond the greatness that Albania has had. And at that time, that monument to the dictator was considered one of the most beautiful that had been realized. In fact, today his son, Adi Dule, realizes the bust of Llazar Fundo and here is how the story stands.

Adi Dule made that sculpture with the soul and strength of his passion, at no cost, without being paid a single penny, and insisting that Zai would be his work, from his own hands, and that no one else would contribute.

It cannot be left without mentioning, even in the assessment made to Adi Dula, Prime Minister Edi Rama with the energy, desire and passion that Zai Fundo had his monument in Korça, which has his contribution in detail. ( Read Here )

Even Niko Peleshi, Speaker of the Assembly, former Mayor of Korça, who had his father interned in Ventotene and he was there, along with Adi Dule and Blendi Fevziu, to see the suffering of the internees.

Niko Peleshi was one of the proponents of placing that bust and naming the square where Zai Fundo had spoken, together with the current mayor, Sotiraq Filo, with a continuous contribution to achieving the final goal, this monument, this bust that has a history.

But, what is most important of all, beyond the thanks and appreciation that should be endless, not only for the sculptor, but also for other people who were involved: Gimi, IImi, Petrika, every employee who put even a nail in that monument to make that work of art come out, there is a very important detail in that bust that was placed there.

Yesterday, his father, a sculptor, made the bust of the dictator. His son, in capitalism, in freedom, makes the victim of the dictator and gives him the values ??that belong to an intellectual and philosopher like Llazar Fundo.

But this, beyond that, gives double value: not just to Adi, not just to his father Hector, but how history and God always guide us to the right and that time delays, but does not forget.

And time did not forget that Adi Dulen took Llazar Fundo to create that unique work of art, which is located next to the Korça Municipality./ CNA
