How Erion Veliaj is threatening the court and deceiving public opinion

The online portal "Tema", owned by the Veliaj family journalist Mero Baze, has published a request made by Erion Veliaj to the Special Court for the making available of his file. In the request, Erion Veliaj requested a physical copy of the file and sufficient time to prepare his defense.

The question that arises is who issued this request? Where did this information come from? Did SPAK prosecutors issue this request, while it was being taken to court?

As CNA has previously stated, it is proven that it is the people close to Veliaj who are releasing such propaganda materials, such as in this specific case a request sent to the court, which only his lawyers and he himself knew about. So, this request was not sent to SPAK.

The request has been submitted to the court and Veliaj has requested that the acts of his file be made available to him. In fact, Erion Veliaj's file has been made available to him for four months, since July 23. Erion Veliaj continues to postpone the trial and only finds instruments to postpone the preliminary hearing.

Now this action to request the documents is a "deceptive" move, because it is clear. Erion Veliaj says give me the documents now, while they were received by his lawyers in electronic form months ago, and then he will ask to see the documents. Given that they are voluminous, about 60 thousand pages, now they will ask for another 3 months to see these documents. Meanwhile, Erion Veliaj has had the file since July. It has been almost 4 months since SPAK took the file to court and Erion Veliaj does not go to appear in court. And he remembered now after 4 months to say give me the documents.

 

Veliaj's "deceptive" move shows once again that the mayor, reinstated by the Constitutional Court, thinks that prosecutors and judges are subordinates and employees of the municipality. He confuses the roles. Maybe after the Constitutional Court reinstated him, he thinks that Altin Dumani is the director of Urban Planning, Ols Dado the director of Greening, Erion Bani the director of Cleaning. Another is the director of Housing. In fact, this is not the case and the truth is that with these orders that Erion gives to the court, no one will know whether he goes to court or not.

That prosecutors are not his subordinates, nor are judges his subordinates. So they will continue their work. Erion Veliaj has taken his legal path, it is clear from the way he acts that he himself is convinced that he will be punished. Maybe he thinks that judges and prosecutors are employees of the municipality and he can order them and conduct trials as he wants. In fact, there are laws. The Albanian state has a Criminal Code and it does not ask much even about mayors of Tirana, who want to exercise their duties from prison or hold the capital hostage for their interests related to corruption scandals. The preliminary hearing by law must be closed for a month and Erion Veliaj cannot stop this.

Politicians usually lie and deceive a lot. Maybe Erion Veliaj thinks that from prison he can deceive public opinion. The truth is that his lawyers have received the court documents. They have received them electronically, taken to a law office, printed them out and sent them to him. It has been 4 months since they received them and signed them, because the documents are not received at the prosecutor's office without being signed. Erion Veliaj cannot undo the fact that his lawyers received the signed documents on July 23.

So this is all just a game, nothing more than that.

Veliaj's lawyers should go print the documents and give them to their client. Albanians will not pay a single lek now because they want Erion Veliaj to be pampered from prison and will give orders to the court.

60 thousand pages, cost millions of lek for Albanians. Well, those 800 thousand euros of panties and dresses for Ajola, Albanians are paying for paper now. They are wasting paper because Erioni doesn't want his lawyers to print the documents for him, he is going to make a circus with the court.

Erion Veliaj is pursuing the same tactics with the court that he pursued with the prosecution, with letters, with writings. What has not happened yet is the beginning of attacks on judges./ CNA
