Abuses with the "check up" affair that left pensioners without service

Abuse and scandals with "check ups" have often been part of the media's denunciation since the beginning of this scheme.

There were not a few articles in CNA about the "check ups", one of the corrupt affairs of the Rama government, for which there was no lack of propaganda, but the investigations revealed the complete opposite. This is from the files, which are being investigated by SPAK prosecutors, and of course developments are expected in the future.

In this affair, they also heard strange things, women with prostate or meaningless tests.

Earlier CNA has verified the data from some citizens who claimed that the family doctors were connected with the laboratories and function as their employees.

The cases were in Elbasan, Tirana, Korça, Fier, etc.

Beginnings of the concession

Initially, when the concession for "check ups" was approved, this service was offered for ages 40-75.

The government trumpeted the "check ups" as a success and then announced the lowering of the age group that would benefit from the free basic checkup, the group was lowered to the ages of 35-70. While people over 70 started having problems with their tests, as they could no longer be registered in the system.

Prosecution investigations:

The Special Prosecutor's Office against Organized Crime and Corruption is continuing the investigations for the "check up" concession.

For this file, at the beginning of August SPAK called about 70 elderly people from the "check up" lists.

They were questioned about the time when they performed the medical services and about the centers in which they performed them.

We remind you that for the "check up" concession, the investigations started 3 years ago and are still ongoing.

Meanwhile, on July 18, 2022, SPAK received the testimony of the former Minister of Health, Ilir Beqaj, on this issue.

Also, a year ago, the former Deputy Minister of Health, Klodjan Rrjepaj, was questioned several times.

According to KLSH, only from the "check up" concession there are about 930 million ALL for incomplete services until 2018, while for the hemodialysis concession the amount reaches 352 million ALL for the period 2016-2020. In total, there are about 1.3 billion lek, or 10.5 million euros. For "check up", the fund has paid the number of cases according to the projection./ CNA
