Was raped during a protest/ Kalaja files criminal charges against police

Member of the National Council of the Democratic Party of Albania, activist Aulon Kalaja, has filed a criminal complaint with the Tirana Police against State Police officers, who he says raped him during the April 17 protest.

He stated that he has also appeared at the Institute of Forensic Medicine to draft a forensic medical expertise on the damages caused to him. Further, Kalaja said that according to the police, he raped the police officers, while the footage shows the opposite.

 

" After I submitted a criminal complaint to the Tirana Police Department against the State Police officers who tortured me during the April 17 protest, I went to the Institute of Forensic Medicine to draft a forensic medical report that reflected the injuries I suffered! Don't forget that the State Police has prosecuted me for the criminal offense of 'Assault due to duty', which provides for a sentence of 1 to 5 years in prison. So according to the police, I beat the police officers. The footage speaks for itself ," said Kalaja.
