How will the opposition action continue?/ Korreshi: We are divided by the

Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi spoke today about the opposition protests and the way they are being conducted.

In an interview with Euronews Albania, Korreshi said that the DP is ambivalent about how to proceed with future protests, because according to him, there are citizens who want action and there are others who want a lockdown or a hunger strike.

The MP expressed that he himself thinks that the hunger strike and isolation should have been a response to what he believes the government is doing.

"We are in a situation where we claim to enter Europe by closing the chapters, but we have not closed the chapters of fear. If we move on to agriculture, 90% of the land has decreased the yield of wheat planting, because the farmer does not receive any kind of assistance. Recently, they also took away oil, which no country in the world has done. The Albanian market sells tomatoes for 400 lek only because the state does not control those who sell them like that.  The protest is divided into several areas. We have people who are involved in the DP and are demanding a protest with nerves because for 14 years the door has been closed to their faces, they cannot do any work.

This is also the part that has the greatest anger and requires action. We have allowed their anger to be expressed in this way, but we have stopped hurting civilians or officers. There are also citizens who demand that we isolate ourselves and go on a hunger strike. So we are in doubt about how we should act in these cases. I personally have also been in favor of hunger strikes and isolation. We have requested dozens of investigative committees, because parliament also functions as a check on the executive, and they have denied us. And this should certainly have gone to extremes. I have been requesting an interpellation with the Minister of Health for three months, but she does not come because she does not know how to speak. I have always been in favor of extreme measures such as isolation as a response to these acts", said Korreshi. /CNA
