NATO Summit held in Tirana/ Hoxha, meeting with the Deputy Secretary General of

Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha held a meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmila Shekerinska on the eve of the Ankara Summit.

In a post on "X", Hoxha writes that during the meeting, Albania's commitment to the Alliance, support for Ukraine, the security situation in the region, and preparations for organizing the next NATO summit in Tirana were discussed.

The Minister also states that during the meeting he emphasized Albania's support for KFOR and its essential role in guaranteeing security in Kosovo and the region.

Today I had a productive meeting with Radmila Shekerinska, NATO Deputy Secretary General. During the meeting, we discussed Albania's unwavering commitment to the Alliance, continued support for Ukraine, the security situation in the Western Balkans, and Albania's preparations for hosting the upcoming NATO Summit in Tirana.

I confirmed Albania's full alignment with NATO priorities on the eve of the Ankara Summit. Albania remains a committed ally, continuing to modernize its Armed Forces, increase defense spending by 2026, and develop its domestic defense industry through strategic investments and long-term partnerships.

I also presented Albania's preparations to host the upcoming NATO Summit in Tirana, the first of this level in our region, noting the continuous coordination with NATO headquarters and our commitment to guarantee a successful and impactful Summit.

Regarding the Western Balkans, we underlined the importance of NATO's sustained commitment to maintaining regional stability and addressing new security challenges. I also reaffirmed Albania's strong support for KFOR, emphasizing its essential role in ensuring security in Kosovo and the region, as well as the importance of maintaining a strong NATO presence, based on security conditions. / CNA
