Inspection at the high-security prison in Peqin

A wide-ranging search operation has been conducted at the high-security prison in Peqin, one of the largest penitentiary institutions in Albania, where well-known figures from the criminal world have recently been transferred.

The operation began in the early hours of the morning on the orders of the General Directorate of Prisons.

Special forces from the General Directorate of Prisons were involved in the intervention (which carried out checks in every cell, sector and internal environment of the institution.

About 20 operational force vehicles were reported on the ground, while a large number of officers participated in the action, indicating the scale and importance of the intervention.

During the inspection, the interior spaces of the prison were verified, with particular focus on security, prohibited items, and compliance with internal rules.

However, to date, there has been no official announcement on the concrete results of the operation or any measures taken against the prisoners or staff.

Peqin Prison is considered one of the most important high-security institutions in the country and is often the focus of special inspections due to the high profile of some prisoners.
