Hazardous waste trafficking/ Muçollari: Several specialists were found

DP Presidency Member Grigels Mucollari gave a statement to the media from the Blue headquarters, where he stated that there was no political responsibility for the illegal trafficking of hazardous waste.

Muçollari said that the Durrës Prosecutor's Office, after a year of investigations, found several mid-level specialists and directors guilty. He described this as an even more serious crime than the environmental one.

At the end of the statement, Muçollari said that this is another reason why citizens should protest on February 10 against the government.

"The prosecution's action against the illegal trafficking of hazardous waste proved a simple fact: there is no political responsibility for this serious environmental crime. The Minister of Environment bears no responsibility. The Director of the Port of Durres bears no responsibility. As we have warned from this Forum, but also in the field, the Durres Prosecution has amnestied Mirela Kumbaro and Pirro Vengu for the largest environmental crime recorded in the country.

We have seen the public appearances of Kumbaro as a minister, chasing citizens and insulting them for a bag of garbage. Meanwhile, under her responsibility, 2800 tons of hazardous waste were loaded in Elbasan, transported to Durrës and headed for Thailand. We have also seen the appearances of Pirro Vengu as Director of the Port of Durrës, with declarations about strengthening security and controls, in cooperation with the police and customs. Empty boasting and propaganda.

In reality, under his leadership, 2,800 tons of hazardous waste, spread across 108 containers, were loaded without a hitch and set off for Thailand. And this was not the first shipment. There were several of them. About 50,000 tons of waste would have followed the same route, had it not been for the intervention of authorities in other countries and the Basel Network.

The Durrës Prosecutor's Office took more than a year of investigation and reached a predetermined conclusion: some specialists and some mid-level directors are guilty. This is a second crime, even more serious than the environmental one: the crime of impunity. The message was given once again clearly: Edi Rama's people are not affected. Just as other figures involved in serious affairs are being protected today.

Although directly linked to the illegal trafficking of hazardous waste, those responsible were not only not punished, but were promoted. The godfather of 2,800 tons of hazardous waste was sent to 'educate' our children. The one with 108 hazardous containers was assigned to 'protect' the entire homeland. This happens when responsibility, as a moral link in society, no longer exists for the government. Under these conditions, reaction is not a choice. It is an obligation. Let's join together on February 10, at 5:00 PM at the Prime Minister's Office, where all hazardous waste, environmental, political and social, is protected and inspired.
