Security in the courts/ Head of the Supreme Court of Kosovo: All institutions

The head of the High Judicial Council, Ilir Rusi, stated in the Laws Committee that the working group on court security will complete its activities by the end of March. According to him, at the end of this process, the drafting of a strategy will begin, which will be accompanied by a concrete action plan. 

Rusi stressed that there is an increased awareness of the need to increase security in justice institutions. He announced that an in-depth analysis has been carried out for all buildings where judicial functions are exercised, as well as for service office buildings.

According to him, all buildings need to improve security elements, starting with the courts in Tirana, including the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Administrative Court. Also, significant needs have been identified in the courts of Lezha, Fier, Kukës, Saranda and Berat.

Rusi noted that currently judges, prosecutors and staff move in the same corridors, which poses a security problem. He stressed that all courts need to improve infrastructure and increase security personnel in these buildings.

"The working group will conclude its activities at the end of March. At the end of the activity, we will launch a strategy that will create an action plan. There is an increased awareness of security in institutions.

We have conducted an in-depth analysis of all the buildings where the functions are carried out and the service office buildings.

All buildings need, but more security elements, starting with the Court buildings in Tirana, from the High Court, the Court of Appeal, the Administrative Court. There are courts that are in need in Lezha, Fieri, Kukës, Saranda and Berat.

"The judge, the prosecutor, all are in one corridor. In all courts there are elements where infrastructure is needed, more staff must be added to these buildings," said the head of the High Court of Justice./ CNA
