From bars to hospitals and schools, the state increases sanitary controls/ Who

From bars and gyms to hospitals, schools and waterworks, a large number of activities will be under regular sanitary control this year, with inspections ranging from one to three times a year, depending on the level of risk they pose.

The public inspection plan by the State Health Inspectorate establishes a stricter regime for sectors critical to public health, prioritizing hospitals, educational institutions, and water supply, while expanding monitoring to include everyday services such as bars, private medical centers, tourist entities, and cultural and sports spaces.

Moderate risk entities, one inspection per year

The moderate risk category includes a wide range of health, service and recreational activities, which will be subject to sanitary inspection once a year. This includes non-public medical offices, non-public medical centers, medical laboratory services, both public and private, as well as dental offices and dental laboratories, regardless of whether they are public or non-public.

The same category also includes accommodation entities, from hotels and resorts, to guesthouses, tourist villages and campsites, as well as swimming pools. Likewise, social, cultural and sports entities, including museums, theaters, cinemas, libraries, gyms, dance halls, national parks and day camps, will be inspected once a year.

The list also includes particularly sensitive institutions, such as prisons, detention centers and police stations, as well as entities that have been inspected for occupational safety. An annual inspection is also foreseen for interventional hygiene and sanitation services, entities importing DDD and breast milk substitute products, as well as for bars in all their forms, from coffee bars and pubs, to discos and gaming halls.

High-risk entities, two inspections per year

At the high risk level, the frequency of inspections is doubled. Public and non-public hospitals, public polyclinics, as well as health centers and public outpatient points will be inspected twice a year. The same scheme applies to educational institutions, from nurseries and kindergartens, to primary, 9-year, and secondary schools, universities and university dormitories.

Special treatment is foreseen for entities with ionizing activities, where radioactive substances or irradiated equipment are used. These activities are not limited to a certain number of controls, but will be under inspection throughout the year, due to the increased risk they pose to health and the environment.

Very high risk, three water inspections per year

The most critical category remains water supply. Water sources, storage tanks, pumping stations, water mains and wells will be inspected three times a year. This increased focus reflects the strategic importance of drinking water and the direct impact that its quality has on public health./ Monitor.al
