Cybersecurity/ Albanian expert, Mikel Grabocka: The future is passwordless

Mikel Grabocka, the Albanian Identity and Trust Security Architect at the Swiss Market Group (SMG), has delivered important messages at a cybersecurity conference.

Grabocka stated during his speech that identity is no longer a physical issue and according to him this is evident in digital patents in the US and in the fact that 84% of cyberattacks against companies stem from compromised identities.

"It could be a leaked password, a misused account, or an account belonging to someone who no longer works for the company, which has not been deleted ," said Mikel Grabocka.

The expert also said that identity is an essential component of the digital world, while emphasizing that its security is important. He expressed his conviction that the future of passwords is passwordless. The security architect said that logging in with just a fingerprint or face can be very fast and does not compromise security.

According to Grabocka, SMG platforms filter suspicious users using risk-based decision-making. After logging in, the system collects data on the location and usage of the device and activates multi-factor authentication (MFA) if there are any doubts.

Artificial intelligence models also monitor interactions during use, identifying common fraudulent messages. These are then categorized as low, medium, or high risk.

"If the risk is low, everything is fine. If the risk is medium, we warn users. They see a message in the messenger that warns them that this could be suspicious. If we are pretty sure that something is wrong, we block the message. Sometimes we even block the suspicious user directly ," he said. /CNA
