This Monday, the director of RTSH, Alfred Peza, and the chairman of the RTSH Governing Council, Leka Bungo, were summoned to the Committee for Education and Public Information Media, in a hearing to discuss the activity report 1- year of RTSH.

Peza and Bungo had the duty to provide answers through an official institution, such as the Media Commission, about where the Albanians' taxes go. Instead, the two public TV officials decided to create a "mise-scene", with a debate that has turned Peza and Bungo into public TV jokes and charlatans.

Peza e Bungo was not satisfied with the abuses committed in RTSH, the critical report of KLSH, the successive denunciations of mass dismissals. They chose to have a barren debate with each other this Monday. ( Read here )

Leka Bungo made the "principle" this Monday by "demanding accountability" from Peza for the mass dismissals.

Debate:

Bungo: The general director's statement that during 3 years RTSH has found zero is not only illogical, it is recorded.

Peza: 3 years?

Bungo: Yes, yes!

Peza: Like 3 years?

Bungo: Yes, yes, 3 years!

Peza: I didn't say anything.

Bungo: You mentioned it now, you have it recorded. Turn it back!

Peza: You're giving it back, give it back?!

Bungo: Back it up! You recorded it, as you recorded it when I told you not to fire people because they will win the lawsuits and you told me zero. You said no one won, I'm giving you two names that won, one 30 million, the other 26 million.

Bungo: Then the Governing Council has been in vain, it came to save us?!

He is the same chairman of the RTSH Management Council, who never spoke before about the dismissal of employees, even when many professionals were fired. The same chairman, who never called the Council and demanded the dismissal of director Alfred Peza, for all the violations committed. But what did Leka Bungo do at that time? Decided to be silent! Today he takes the principle and decides to speak, raising doubts that in fact Leka Bungo is targeting and coveting the exact position that Alfred Peza holds today. 

We remember that Leka Bungo went to RTSH and first clashed with the former director Thoma Gëllçi, with his staff, he wanted to run RTSH. He then collided with Enkelejd Joti. Even in the second case, he simply and only requested that he be the director of RTSH, while the person who was appointed to this position be the notary of Leka. ( Read here )

With the arrival of Peza as General Director, massive layoffs have been continuing for a long time in RTSH, people with experience who worked for decades in RTSH have left their jobs.

But, Leka Bungo has not said a word before, there has been no reaction from him in public about the mass vacations and resignations that are happening at RTSH. ( Read here )

This young man does not pick up the phone, does not answer or has ordered that no one pick up the phone at RTSH Leka Bungo, and not to give answers or reports, without talking about the protocol offices and other directors, who often Leka Alfred Peza used them to get information before going to work.

When someone else was the director, who started a "small" reform in RTSH, Leka Bungo screamed day after day. When all the television went away, leaders, managers, professionals left, Leka Bungo was silent.

How is it possible that the chairman of the board does not speak, who in most of them has the competence of appointments and dismissals due to the attributes given by the RTSH statute to the Supervisory Council. Leka Bungo doesn't speak! ( Read here )

It is unheard of for the chairman of the RTSH Governing Council and the General Director of the same institution to clash with each other in another legislative institution, where the focus should have been on the common vision for moving forward and at the appropriate height of a public television. Like it or not, attention was focused on the Peza-Bungo debate, on the seemingly close relationship between the two leaders, but in fact it was more of a relationship about who occupies who's position!

Albanians today, from this debate more than anything else, understood how a public television cannot rise to the levels required by morality and the duty of accountability to citizens' taxes, it cannot go to that level, as it is involved head-to-toe in mediocre and visionless management of charlatans at the head of public TV./ CNA
