"Rrugorja", with an iron fist/ Punishes rebellious drivers

The Traffic Police have intensified 24/7 monitoring of road axes, using drones, radars, cameras, smart cars and patrols with non-uniformed vehicles.

The purpose of the controls is to prevent accidents and ensure road safety, as well as reduce noise pollution from vehicles that create noise through illegal modifications.

From monitoring over the last two weeks, "Rrugorja" has punished "rebellious" drivers.

77 citizens were prosecuted for obstructing traffic with illegally parked vehicles. Their vehicles were towed away with a tow truck.

66 citizens have been arrested or prosecuted for drunk driving, driving without a license or violating traffic rules.

5 citizens have been criminally prosecuted for attempting to bribe Traffic Police officers with the aim of avoiding criminal liability.

3 wanted persons were also arrested, 108 vehicles were blocked for various traffic violations, 53 driving licenses were suspended and 33 cases of vehicles operating public transport illegally were identified (taxi drivers without relevant certificates, taxis with white license plates, buses with a different destination than the one specified in the transport permit).

The Traffic Police appeals for strict compliance with road traffic rules by everyone: drivers of vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrians, as well as those who ride bicycles or skateboards, to guarantee safety for every road user./ CNA
