Pilgrimage to Mount Tomorr/ Berat Police, plan of measures

The Berat Local Police Directorate has presented the plan of measures to guarantee public order and security during the pilgrimage to Mount Tomorri.

This plan has the following objectives: preventing road accidents, ensuring the smooth movement of users of the district's road axes, and ensuring public order and safety before, during and after the pilgrimage to Mount Tomorri, which will take place during the period 18-25 August. In implementation of this plan of measures, additional services have been planned on all road axes leading to Mount Tomorri, as well as in the external premises of the cult object on this mountain.

The tasks foreseen in this plan of measures will be carried out by the services of the Berat Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Fier Police Headquarters, the Operational Unit for Road Safety, local government bodies, the PMNZSH, the Berat regional hospital and the World Bektashi Patriarchate.

-The itinerary for drivers heading towards Mount Tomorri (towards the tekke) will be: “Entrance to the city of Berat – Kombinat Roundabout – City Ring Road – Uznova Roundabout – Plirëzim Intersection – Kulmak Tekke”.

-The routes for drivers returning from Mount Tomorri (from the tekke) will be: “Kulmak Tekke – Bargullaz – Pronovik – Poliçan – Uznovë – Main Road 'Antipatrea' – Combine Roundabout”; “Kulmak Tekke – Novaj – Bogovë – Poliçan – Uznovë – Main Road 'Antipatrea' – Combine Roundabout”. 

-Drivers and pilgrims coming from the city of Çorovodë are advised to use the road axis "Çorovodë - Gjerbes - Kulmakut Tekke" and vice versa.

-On the road axes "Vlashuk Kuçovë - Berat", "Ura Kuçit - Dimal - Berat", "Pobrat - Dimal - Berat", "Berat - Mali i Tomorrit", "Berat - Çorovodë" and "Çorovodë - Gjerbes - Mali i Tomorrit" heavy tonnage vehicles will not be allowed to circulate, from 06:00 to 24:00, during all days of the pilgrimage. 

-Buses, vans with over 8 passengers and minibuses will not be allowed to circulate on the road axis "Plirëz - Tekeja e Kulmakut - Mali i Tomorrit".

-Due to the parameters of the road, on the road segment "Plirëz - Tekeja e Kulmakut", vehicle traffic will be carried out in columns and overtaking will not be allowed.

-Also, parking and stopping of vehicles is prohibited. Drivers must follow the instructions of Police officers regarding the places where parking and stopping of vehicles will be permitted.

Through this announcement, we bring to your attention the rigorous implementation of road traffic rules, respect for speed limits, not driving under the influence of alcohol, avoiding the use of mobile phones while driving, and the use of seat belts.

Also, all drivers and citizens who will participate in this pilgrimage are informed that on all road axes and in the areas surrounding the Kulmak tekke, 24 hours a day and until the end of the pilgrimage, there will be a presence of Police services, who will assist you and provide you with help, in any case of need./ CNA
