Eva Dumani's repatriation after 12 years from Syria/ Ministry of Foreign

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an official response regarding Eva Dumani's return to Albania from Syria.

The operation to repatriate the girl, who had been in a camp in Syria for years, was carried out through cooperation between several Albanian state institutions, according to the ministry.

The response states that Turkish authorities have made a significant contribution to this sensitive case.

In response to media interest, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs informs that thanks to the coordination and cooperation between several institutions of the Albanian state, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the country's diplomatic representation in Turkey, the operation for the return to Albania of citizen ED, who had been in a camp in Syria for several years, has been successfully carried out.

The extended operation was made possible with the support of our partners, in particular with the contribution of the Turkish authorities, whom we thank for their cooperation in this sensitive case.

The MEPJ reaffirms its readiness and willingness to respond in any case, to the needs or situations that affect Albanian citizens wherever they are across borders.

Eva and her brother, Endri Dumani, were 8 and 6 years old when they traveled with their father, Shkëlzen Dumani, from Albania to Syria, penetrating into areas of armed conflict, areas controlled by the ISIS state at the time. In 2020, Eva's brother, Endri Dumani, was rescued from the Al Hol camp in Syria. /CNA
