"Shame!"/ Brizida Gjikondi and Andi Tepelena protest LGBTQ decorations

Lawyer Brizida Gjikondi and activist Andi Tepelena held a protest on Friday evening.

The protest on "Dëshmoret e Kombit" Boulevard was held in connection with LGBTQ decorations that have been placed in the city on the occasion of February 14, which is widely celebrated as Valentine's Day.

According to Gjikondi, this act by the Municipality of Tirana is shameful and constitutes an insult and provocation to Albanian families.

"In the center of Tirana, on the 'Martyrs of the Nation' boulevard, which is not without reason named so, the Municipality of Tirana, the government and the Albanian majority have decided to decorate the area on the occasion of February 14 with an LGBT theme.

This is an insult, an offense and a provocation for all Albanians and for all Albanian families. The law in Albania, according to the Constitution, is made by the family. It is the most sacred part of this nation. And let's not forget that not long ago, we had statistics where births have almost fallen by 74% from '90 to today.

And this is an indicator once again to see what crisis this society has entered and how the legal right and future of this nation are not being stimulated, but rather what is not the majority and is not what Albanian legislation determines is being stimulated.

The Municipality of Tirana does not know what agenda it has, but in its organic law, it represents the interests of all citizens of Albania and of Tirana as the capital of Albania, and in no way has the duty to represent the sexual orientations of minorities that are not the majority of the city.

I think that a city, just like the famous Greek polis, is based on the family. And to stimulate and orient the youth towards it and to minimize the role of the family and orient them towards this thing, I think this speaks volumes that Mr. Rama has been caught not only by financial and material corruption, but also by moral corruption.

"Therefore, we must react to these things, which although many may say that they are doing it to distract attention, no, they are not doing it to distract attention. They are doing it because it will precisely undo the basic cell of Albanian society, which is the family. The law is made by the majority and the majority of Albanians hold the family sacred," said Gjikondi./ CNA
