Unsafe food trade/ AKU blocks around 2500 kg of products of animal origin, fines

The National Food Authority has carried out inspections in the Agro-Food market in Tirana, in entities that traded products of animal origin, following a complaint received for the trading of unsafe food products.

The controls included a total of 14 entities, of which 5 were fully inspected, while 9 were found closed. The operation resulted in the seizure of: 197.5 kg of unsafe products (kaçkavall cheese and dried fruits); 2,214.2 kg of unlabeled or improperly labeled products (salami and dried fruits).

All of these products are destined for destruction and cannot be sold on the market.

For the violations found by the inspection body, the NFA imposed 7 administrative measures with a total value of 1,600,000 lek: 800,000 lek for trading unsafe food; 500,000 lek for lack of traceability; 300,000 lek for lack of labeling.

The AKU announces that it will continue field inspections with the aim of guaranteeing food safety and protecting consumer health. /CNA
