Rama reaches agreement with protesters: Residents will be expropriated, we will

Prime Minister Edi Rama's meeting with Durrës residents protesting the TID project has concluded.

In a media appearance, Rama stated that an agreement has been reached on how to move forward, including the necessary verification of several objects that may have cultural heritage value.

He emphasized that there will be demolition, the project will not be stopped, but there needs to be a verification of some houses that may have cultural value.

Rama highlighted that there are also some properties that have not received a mortgage even though they have been there for some time.

The Prime Minister also said that residents will be expropriated and new references will be considered.

"We spoke with 34 citizens of Durrës, representatives of families, for about 2 and a half hours. The conversation was constructive, with different opinions. The 35 others there who do not represent the citizens or the city but only the plight of an 80-something year old, create situations that are ridiculous and that show where that party has fallen. As for the real problem, we agreed on how we will move forward, including with the necessary verification for some objects that may have cultural heritage values. There will be demolition, the project will not stop, but there must be a verification for some houses that may have cultural value. There are also some properties that have not received a mortgage even though they have been there for some time.

"The residents will be expropriated, we will see the new references," he stressed./ CNA
