Opposition protest/ Tirana Court issues verdict for 14 protesters

The Tirana court has ordered the 14 protesters arrested after the February 10 protest to appear in court. According to the decision, they must appear before the judicial authorities once a month.

The prosecution requested two prison sentences, three house arrests, and nine mandatory appearances.

The court also imposed on Friday the security measure "compulsory appearance" for seven minors detained following the national protest called by the opposition.

A total of 22 people were arrested from the protest.

Five representatives of the Democratic Party have also been placed under investigation, including Organizing Secretary Ervin Minarolli and MPs Flamur Noka, Belind Këlliçi, Luçiano Boçi and Klevis Balliu.

The most violent clashes were recorded in front of the Parliament, where protesters threw Molotov cocktails and fireworks, while the police responded with water cannon and tear gas. Among the injured were protesters, media workers, police officers, as well as MP Bledion Nallbati, who was taken to the hospital after the incidents./ CNA
