Avalanche/Qafë Thore-Theth axis remains blocked

The Qafë Thore-Theth road axis continues to be blocked today at the panoramic tunnels. According to information, preliminary work is underway to clear the avalanches.

Road authority experts say they are going to the field to assess the condition and safety for interventions in the tunnel area.

Local authorities and civil emergency structures announced a day earlier that for safety reasons, traffic will remain suspended until further notice. Snow removal vehicles are also currently unable to intervene in the area, due to the high risk of further possible avalanches and difficult weather conditions.

The area near the panoramic tunnels is considered one of the most problematic points during the winter season, due to exposure to avalanches. Institutions have called on drivers to respect road signs and completely avoid this axis, choosing alternative routes.

Also, citizens and visitors are advised to follow only official announcements for any updates on the situation and possible reopening of the road.  /CNA
