Reporting to the Assembly/ Bogdani expresses the opinion of the KLP on the draft

The Chairperson of the High Prosecutorial Council, Mirela Bogdani, is continuing to answer questions from MPs in the Assembly. One of the issues she was asked about was the draft of the new Criminal Code.

Bogdani said that the KLP has discussed this issue but has not gone into technical details due to lack of time. She stated that once the assigned tasks related to European integration are completed, a working group will be established to analyze the new Criminal Code.

"The public consultation has not yet started. The first session is on the 5th. It is a very voluminous act with 900 or so articles. The Council has discussed this issue, since we did not have the necessary time to go into technical details, we have decided that as soon as we finish our homework regarding European integration, a working group will be created. It will make a specialized opinion regarding specific provisions of the Code. The KLP did not want to give an answer about the quality of the Code. It requires a much greater commitment by the KLP to coordinate human resources and find specialists according to the areas of the Criminal Code, because there are a number of chapters that require technical addressing. And then we will have a technical product with which the Code or the draft can be evaluated" , said Bogdani. /CNA
